Used for centuries, medicinal herbs and botanicals have an important history and tradition in healing. Considered safe and recognized as beneficial by many medical professionals, they support and "encourage" rather than artificially "force" the body to heal. Optimal-Outcome's exclusive High Performing Natural complex of potent vitamins, minerals, medicinal herbs and botanical extracts combines the latest scientific technology with what nature already provides. Delivery of these ingredients is further enhanced by Polybeta 1-3, an active glucopyranose extracted from saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast) which responds to stress by upregulating protective proteins the same way human skin cells do. The synthesis of our ingredients have been shown to accelerate healing and function subcutaneously (below skin surface) as well as cutaneously (on the skin surface) and discourage scar formation by improving the way the cells knit.

"Skin quality plays a major role in achieving optimal results from most cosmetic plastic surgery procedures."

- James Carraway, MD, co-chair
American Society of Plastic Surgeons/American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery,
"Anti-Aging Symposium"

To be best prepared for your cosmetic procedure experience, it helps to understand a little about your skin and how it functions. While everyone's skin condition and healing ability is different, there are three basic phases to the healing process.

Environmental enemies cause free radicals to form in the skin. Over time, the skin loses it ability to repair free-radical damage and produce collagen and elastin resulting in wrinkling, sagging and accelerated aging. Antioxidants are free radical scavengers that give unstable atoms the electron partners they seek. Topically applied, anti-oxidants supplement healthy skin cells and because they bypass the control mechanisms associated with ingestion, they can be targeted and delivered in higher concentrations.

1) The Inflammatory Phase - begins 4 -12 hours after injury. Responsive cells migrate to the injury site causing swelling, redness, warmth and sometimes tenderness.

2) The Proliferative Phase - Connective tissue cells called fibroblasts proliferate and position themselves for collagen synthesis to stimulate wound repair. Vitamins, particularly Vitamin C, are integral to this process.

3) The Final Maturation Phase - Fibroblasts and capillaries regress and collagen fibers shift closer together further strengthening damaged skin tissue. This phase can last from days to several weeks or longer.

"Genetics, environmental damage, cigarette smoking and sun exposure are some of the major factors effecting skin aging. A healthy lifestyle combined with topical applications of potent antioxidants can help reverse some signs of aging and prevent further cell deterioration."
